It’s amazing how two of your own children can be so completely different, right? When Lily was a baby, she was so easy to feed. She ate pretty much anything and generally did not make a mess. Aubrie…..not so much. This child is a very picky eater. I think I wear more of her food than actually goes in her mouth. Most days, it takes two hands to feed her: one to hold her hands down and the other to spoon in the food.
Thank goodness for Barbara Schantz, the creator of the Baby Dipper (and Mom of two sets of twins!), a product that has helped me tremendously at mealtime. The ingenious design of this baby bowl and spoon set, allows for feeding with just one hand!

The Baby Dipper has so many great features! First of all, the bowl is transparent, making it easy to see how much food remains in the dish. In order to minimize sliding, the bowl has a non-slip base. The interior is sloped so food naturally pools at the front of the dish and the sides are vertical which assists in getting food on the spoon easily. Finally, the spoon fits in the lower corner of the bowl and does not fall in the food or on the table minimizing the mess.

After attempting to feed Aubrie her oatmeal, I found that the Baby Dipper did stand up to it’s promises. The bowl did not slide around my table and I love the fact that the spoon can be left without falling. I was amazed at how little oatmeal stuck to the sides of the bowl and that most of it did in fact slide to the front creating much less waste. I like that the bowl can also be used by toddlers learning to self-feed. It is also good to note that the bowl and spoon set are lead and phthalate free.
My one suggestion would be for Baby Dipper to offer various sizes (and maybe colors) of bowls. The Baby Dipper holds 4 oz. of food, and Aubrie will eat a bit more at some meals. All in all, I loved this bowl and spoon set. It’s features definitely made mealtime less messy and clean up was a snap!
