One of my favorite activities to do with my children is to gather them all on the couch with me to snuggle up and read stories. It’s especially nice when you have a meaningful story with lovely illustrations that encourages kids to do the right thing and strengthens character. We recently had the opportunity to read a couple books from the Nana Star Collection and they’ve easily become treasured books that my children love. This series is brought to you by eepublishing, where a little girl goes on a magical adventure to rescue a lost baby star. It’s not an easy task to bring him back to his heavenly home but with the Moonman watching over her, she knows there’s always someone near and guiding her every move. It’s a beautiful collection with values and lessons that children can apply within their own lives.
My children enjoyed these two books so much that they are looking forward to reading the third installment, Nana Star and Blue Wolf, when it comes out to print in Spring ‘09. Elizabeth loved finding the intentional spelling errors in the book and when your child finds a spelling mistake, they can send Nana Star a note on how to correct the spelling and become instant members of the Twinkling Club where they will receive an autograph of Nana Star herself and a certificate of Club membership! My daughter didn’t waste any time sending her letter in and is looking forward to being part of the club. Each book comes with its own bookmark and audio cd complete with songs that my children wanted to listen to over and over. I valued the incredible message and warmth captured within this book. It thoughtfully displays the scenarios and fears that are common in the hearts of children and a way to overcome them in a touching and entertaining way that appeals to little ones in a positive way.
In addition to these wonderful stories, they offer lovable and huggable plush companions to enhance the storybook experience. The Nana Star Poseable Doll is adorable with pretty little twinkling details. My girls oohed and ahhed over this doll and declared what a delight she was and how she was just like the lovely character in the story. The Moonman Lovey is a charmer as he softly glows and plays a sweet “luvaby” when you gently squeeze his tummy. He is definitely a keeper and a great reminder to kids that there’s nothing to be afraid of when he’s near. What a wonderful parallel to the Lord above!
Nana Star also has founded the Nana Star Foundation that is dedicated to helping out children attending underesourced, inner city schools and for terminally ill children by contributing a portion of their sales to benefit this worthy cause. Through this foundation, they wrap hope around books and toys for thousands of children who need a reason to smile. They also donate to several charitable and social organizations and routinely give books and toys to schools, libraries, and hospitals through this country and the world. Give your child the gift of laughter and please help a child smile today!
