Every item at Layla Grayce is “never mainstream but always functional, Layla Grayce products are designed for longevity – everyday heirlooms that can be passed on to future generations. For everyone dedicated to creating an inspired haven that reflects a stylish, creative take on lifestyle.

As I looked (and drooled over!) the products at Layla Grayce, I ran across so many things I would love to have for myself, my daughters and my home.  This online boutique carries everything from furniture to stationary, jewelry to diaper bags.  One of the items that caught my eye was this gorgeous personalized photo bracelet perfect for Mother’s Day (honey, are you reading this? *hint hint*).

The selection of diaper bags is phenomenal!  If you are in search of a stylish, can-that-really-be-a-diaper-bag option, this is THE place for you!  I was fortunate enough to do a review of the Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack in Brocade Teaberry Roll.  I will be the first to admit that I have spent many hours drooling over this diaper bag, but could never get over the price tag.  Is a diaper bag REALLY worth the money?  After reviewing this bag….YES!  As far as quality, you definitely get what you pay for.

I have two young daughters, so I wanted a fashionable “girly” bag that would stand the test of time.  The Petunia Pickle Bottom bag features, “water-resistant lining, convenient zip out changing station with detachable pad for easy cleaning, 4 bottle pockets, removable dirty diaper pouch, a ‘no more digging” handy key clip, sleek PPB monogrammed plastic wipey case and durable backpack or shoulder straps with chrome trigger snap hooks.”  This is one serious bag!

The Boxy Backpack has gotten lots of compliments on its looks and I absolutely love the detachable fold out changing pad!  Also, the long, thick piece of Velcro was very efficient at keeping the diaper bag closed.  The option of carrying this bag as a backpack or over the shoulder was so convenient!

Brr…It’s Wintertime!

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Now your baby or toddler doesn’t have to stay in when it’s freezing cold outside! 7 A.M. ENFANT brings you the “Blanket 212evolution“, the ultimate baby outerwear and blanket made to ensure that your baby is warm and dry no matter how low the temperature drops. It features an ergonomic zip up hood, security straps, anti-slip back panel, five-point harness back openings, anti-pilling microfleece lining, thermal filling, and waterproof shell in a highly constructed and durable design making it the most extraordinary bunting of its kind on the market. With its zippered lengths and width extensions, this blanket is made to be adjustable, fitting newborns all the way up to 4 years and adapts to fit any car seat and stroller. Not only is it practical for cold weather, but stylish too with eleven vibrant color combination’s to choose from. They also carry matching mittens, booties, and hats to complete the ensemble. It’s no wonder why Kate Winslet chose this blanket for her twins to go strolling about NYC in!

This bunting has been the best adaptable blanket we use and certainly my first and foremost favorite! I love how it is versatile to fit into any car seat, stroller, and yet can turn into a blanket when needed. I am extremely confident no matter how ugly and chilly the weather is outside in our extreme Alaskan climate, I know that my sweet little babe is toasty warm snuggled up inside this bunting. The toggle elastic around the hood covers the gap around your child’s face so no cold breeze will sneak in. My four year old son, Ethan, has grown fond of this blanket as well and because it can expand to fit from newborn up to 4 yrs, he fits quite cozy and comfortably in it too. He also likes to use it as a sleeping bag when we’re inside the house pretending he is camping out and wants to use it when we actually do go camping this summer. It would be very hard to find another bunting that can outperform the 212evolution blanket when it comes to keeping your child warm and protected against the elements!

CoverPlug – Home Safety for Toddlers Review

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

About the Company:
CoverPlug is a unique electrical outlet cover that is designed to be “out of sight, out of mind” for your toddler. The plugs are made to fit seamlessly with your home decor with an easy to paint surface and mounts flush with your wall.

Quick Facts:

  • Made in the USA
  • Covers the entire outlet
  • Paintable to match your wall
  • Easy to install

Mom Approved:
As the mother of a busy toddler I often worry where my daughters little fingers will make their way. We all know how hard it is to have an eye on them 24/7 so we seek out products for our home to help avoid potential harm. One of those dangers are electrical outlets. Our house is covered in little clear plastic plugs. Unfortunately, the clear plastic isn’t all that pretty.

Recently I was given the opportunity to try out a new product called coverPlug. CoverPlugs are molded panels that fit right into your electrical outlets covering the entire outlet panel. What I found to be one of the greatest benefits was that you can paint the cover to match your wall.

I decided to try the coverPlug out in the busiest room of our house to see our daughter’s reaction. Most days she spends a few minutes here and there trying to pry off the old plastic plugs because they are clearly visible to her. With coverPlug the temptation was gone, the outlet cover was just part of the wall to her.

Mom Improvements:
Design wise, there isn’t a flaw to be found. It would be wonderful to have the plugs available in some standard colors like off white and almond.

Buy it:
You can find coverPlug at a number of online retailers as low as $3.95 per plug. Click here to find a retailer.

Lil’ Aloha Babies DVD…Bring Hawaii Home

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

If you’ve ever gone to Hawaii or if you’d ever like to go to Hawaii, you MUST check out Lil Aloha Babies DVD. Pop it in and sit back with your keiki (children) and be prepared to go on a wonderful adventure to the Hawaiian sea and beaches.

Produced by Local Girl Productions, a mom owned company, Lil Aloha Babies Waves n’ Wonders DVD teaches babies, toddlers and preschoolers all about things in, on and around the seas and beaches of Hawaii.
I watched this DVD with my son (3.5 years old) and daughter (10 months) and both were equally entertained and enamored. I, myself, was instantly pleased with the music in Lil’ Aloha Babies Waves n’ Wonders. It wasn’t like most children’s DVDs, where the musical choices grate on my nerves or give me an instant headache. Instead it had soothing, calm songs along with fun, upbeat, make-me-want-to-dance songs and all of them made me feel like I was in Hawaii. Oh wait! I am. But my point is, this is a true, accurate DVD about Hawaii and our sea life found around the islands. It’s authentic and really teaches a piece of Hawaiian culture. I so wish I had this before we moved to Hawaii, a year and a half ago!
In this half an hour DVD, each segment starts with an English word and its translation in Hawaiian. With each word spelled out in block letters it gave my son great practice in recognizing his letters. It was even educational for me. I learned a ton of Hawaiian words and now we are all trying to use them in the house every chance we can. There’s beautiful footage of the sea life around Hawaii, fun action surf shots and my kids favorite, the animated turtle and crab.
Winner of four awards, including three Telly Awards and oneVideographer Award, Lil Aloha Babies Waves n’ Wonders is a wonderfully educational, entertaining and beautiful DVD for keikieverywhere. I highly recommend it.
Lil Aloha Babies Waves n’ Wonder can be purchased on their website atwww.lilalohababies.com for $18.99. If you are in love with Hawaii or want your little one to appreciate the beautiful ocean, go buy this DVD. It’s cheaper than a visit to Hawaii and Lil’ Aloha Waves n’ Wonders DVD still delivers the same feeling of Aloha.
Mahalo to Island Girl Productions for making this great DVD!

Cozy Cuddlez Wipe Case Review

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

I was contacted awhile back by Valery from Cozy Cuddlez about doing a review for a wipes case. As soon as I sent her my address I had a wipe case within a few days, and that’s even from her sending from WAY out west to Florida. I was so excited to get something in the mail too, especially cause I don’t EVER get things in the mail.

Lucky enough for me, I didn’t have a wipes case and needed one. The even better part is that I was able to choose a fabric that would go well with myself having 2 girls. I chose a beautiful pink flower with a brown background. It goes perfectly with everything I take with me when I’m out and about. I do have to say that when I was out in public I felt so lucky to NOT have the normal, ugly wipes case. When I pulled this out, I was proud to pull out the case when I was at the mall or anywhere I needed too because the case was just too cute! I could totally tell that people were looking at the case I had because they wanted one and all they had was the ugly plain wipe case.

Overall, I have to say that I absolutely love this customized case. Of course the fabric is beautiful, and you can tell the work and love that she put into it. The fabric was great quality and an adorable mix of brown and pink. I think my favorite part of the case, besides the fabric, is the little ribbon with Princess on it and the jewel close to that. I have no complaints at all about this beautiful case. I think everyone needs to get a customized case and what a cute Christmas or baby shower idea!

Here are a few pictures of mine!

Some of our favorite cases on her site are Go Diego Go, and Brown and Teal Dots:

At only $12, its a fun way to carry wipes or double the use as a back to school box or crayon holder:

Valery, who runs the online boutique, is ALSO a mommy blogger! So head over to Cozy Cuddlez to check out her different designs, and when she asks where you found her, tell her Momdot!
